Es dürfte kaum möglich sein, in der Klavierwelt einen glanzvolleren Namen als den von Martha Argerich zu finden. Auch mit über 80 Jahren ist die Grande Dame des Flügels pianistisch topfit, wach, lebendig und beseelt von ihrem legendären Temperament. Mit dem Klavier-Festival Ruhr verbindet sie eine lange Tradition: Bei mehr als 30 unvergesslichen Auftritten war sie hier zu erleben, 2007 erhielt sie den Festival-Preis.

​Wie kaum eine andere Künstlerin ihres Formats hat sich „La Martha“, wie sie ihre Fans bewundernd und voller Respekt nennen, der Förderung junger Klaviertalente verschrieben: Sie engagiert sich als Jurorin bei internationalen Wettbewerben, aaus denen sie in ihren frühen Jahren oft selbst als Siegerin hervorgegangen war, als Lehrerin, Coach, Mentorin und großzügige Gastgeberin im privaten Zuhause. Auch bei Festivals, die sie persönlich ins Leben gerufen hat oder die unter ihrer Schirmherrschaft stehen, wie das bis 2016 jährlich stattfindende „Progetto Martha Argerich“ in Lugano, kümmert sie sich um den pianistischen Nachwuchs. Eine weitere wichtige Veranstaltungsreihe ist in diesem Zusammenhang das 2018 ins ­Leben gerufene Martha Argerich Festival, das jährlich in Kooperation mit den Symphonikern Hamburg stattfindet.

Einer der Namen, die eng mit dem Hamburger Festival verbunden sind, ist der von Akane Sakai. Im japanischen Nagoya geboren, studierte sie an der Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokio und wechselte im Anschluss zu Alan Weiss ans renommierte ­Lemmens-Institut im belgischen Löwen. Weitere Stationen ihrer ­Ausbildung führten Akane Sakai zu Lilya Zilberstein und Pavel Gililov; Auftritte mit bedeutenden Künstlerkollegen und Orchestern, darunter die ­Kremerata Baltica, das Orchestra della Svizzera Ital­iana und das Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, sowie bei Festivals wie dem ­Klavier-Festival Ruhr oder La Roque d’Antheron schlossen sich an. Mit Martha Argerich verbindet Akane Sakai nicht nur die Zusammenarbeit beim Festival in Hamburg, wo sie seit der Gründung als ­künstlerische Planerin Teil des Teams ist. Auch als regel­mä­ßige Kammermusik- und Duo-Partnerin der großen Kollegin tritt sie häufig in Erscheinung: eine enge Partnerschaft, die auch beim ­gemeinsamen Konzert in Dortmund beim diesjährigen Klavier-­Festival begeistern wird.

    Konzerthaus Dortmund is easy to access with public transport. With concert tickets that include a note about the DSW21 Kombiticket, using all VRR public transport to travel to and from the event is free (you can find more information on the DSW21 Kombiticket here).   • Accessibility

    Konzerthaus Dortmund is certified as an accessible space: it has step-free entrances and the foyer, stalls and first and second-floor balconies can be reached via lifts. Disabled-accessible toilets are available. An induction loop is available for hearing aid users.

  • Cloakroom

    We are happy to store your coats and rucksacks, and large musical instruments or umbrellas too, in the cloakroom. The cloakroom fee is €1.50.

  • Admission

    The entrance foyer and day/evening box office always open 90 minutes before the start of an event. (Different regulations may apply for third-party events.) You can take your seat 30 minutes before the start of an event at the earliest. If you arrive late, our foyer staff will, where possible, let you into the hall at a suitable point in the programme to prevent disruption to ongoing performances.

  • Photos and Audio Recordings

    Of course, you are permitted to take photos and make audio recordings for your own personal use during your visit to Konzerthaus Dortmund. However, please understand that during the performances, using devices to take photos or record audio is not permitted for copyright reasons.
