  • Concessions

Severely disabled people receive free entry for their carer, if they have one, for their visit. Different rules may apply for special and external events.

  • Arrival and Parking

The main entrance of Konzerthaus Dortmund lies within a pedestrian zone. However, it is possible to drive up to the venue in a car via Reinoldistraße to pick up or drop off visitors. There are also two disabled parking spaces here. You can find more disabled parking spaces at Parkhaus Bissenkamp (Gerberstraße 8) and Parkhaus Burgwall (Burgwall 8).

Information on the accessibility of the surrounding public transport stops, including current construction measures, can be found here.

  • Information for People with Impaired Mobility

The Konzerthaus Dortmund has level access. Our friendly foyer team awaits you in the entrance foyer to offer assistance and help with the doors. Foyer, stalls and first and second-floor balconies can be reached via lifts. Unfortunately, the gallery is not accessible by lift. A disabled toilet is available.

Sixteen wheelchair spaces are available in different price groups at Konzerthaus. To ensure that these seats are not given to others, we ask wheelchair uses to order their tickets as early as possible.

We offer walker users the option to park their walker in our foyer area, where we can look after it. Our foyer staff are happy to help you take your seat and to provide you with your walker in the interval and at the end of the event.

  • Information for Visually Impaired People

It is also possible to visit Konzerthaus Dortmund with a guide dog. The choice of seats is restricted for this. Please mention this when buying your tickets so that a suitable seat with enough space for the four-legged friend can be selected and report to the evening box office when you arrive for the concert.

  • Information for Hearing Aid Users

For hearing aid users, there is an induction loop at most seats in Konzerthaus Dortmund. Our box office team will be happy to help you to choose a seat. To use the induction loop, you need to change the setting of your device to “telephony”. Modern devices recognise the induction loop and independently switch on the induction loop mode. If you manually adjust your hearing aid or take it off during the concert, please prevent the disruptive high-frequency noise that can disrupt the concert.

Up-to-date information: Unfortunately, the induction loop is currently defective and is therefore temporarily unavailable. We are working on a quick solution to the problem and apologise for any inconvenience.

  • Digital Accessibility

    Declaration of accessibility
    for the website www.konzerthaus-dortmund.de
    Status: June 2025

    General description of the service

The website www.konzerthaus-dortmund.de is the central digital service of the Konzerthaus Dortmund. It provides information about our diverse artistic programme, offers the opportunity to purchase tickets and subscriptions and provides further content on events, artists and services.
Our online offer serves to provide orientation, inspiration and active participation for all visitors and interested parties – regardless of individual requirements.

    Explanations for use

The website is written in German and English and offers information in structured navigation points.
    The main functions include

    • Calendar of events and detailed event pages
    • Online ticket and subscription purchase
    • Information on artists, projects and funding programmes
    • Access to press material and contact information
    • Use of services such as newsletter and donation form

For better usability, the website has an operating aid with which contrast and font size settings can be adjusted. Most of the image descriptions (alt texts) have been provided.

Degree of fulfilment of the accessibility requirements

The website was developed with the aim of being as accessible as possible. In doing so, we are guided by the requirements of the Barrier-free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0) and the requirements of the Disability Equality Act (BGG).

    Areas with fulfilled requirements:

    • Contrasts are individually adjustable via an operating aid
    • Image description texts (alt texts) are predominantly available
    • The website can be navigated using a keyboard and screen reader
    • Structuring through heading hierarchies is largely correct
    • Responsive presentation on mobile devices

    Areas with remaining barriers:

We are aware that not all areas of the website are currently fully accessible. The following points are currently being revised:

    • Some interactive elements such as buttons or touch areas are not yet optimised in terms of size or spacing
    • The barrier-free control of the image slider is currently being technically adapted
    • Individual links are not yet sufficiently clearly labelled
    • In some cases, image elements contain duplicate information, which can make it difficult to use with screen readers
    • The graphic seating plan in the ticket and subscription shop is currently only accessible to a limited extent - a revised, accessible version is under development
    • Some PDF documents on the website are currently not accessible. Complete editing is not possible in all cases - we will be happy to provide accessible alternatives if required.

    Our next steps:
In the coming months, we are planning, among other things

    • the complete conversion of the hall plan for barrier-free use
    • the optimisation of alt texts and link designations

We see digital accessibility as an ongoing process and warmly invite all users to join us on this journey.
